It turned out to be a peer issue.  A really big one at that.

I am not certain where or where the issue actually lies, but suffice to say that for the most part the issue has gone.  I do still get the odd lag spike, but it was nowhere near what it was when Solaris was assisting me.

I would like to thank everyone who suggested possible fixes in this thread, especially to Solaris who took the time out of his own day to help me figure out what the problem actually was, and after passing this data to
my hosts, was able to get them to try a few new things they never did before.  I saw a pretty dramatic improvement when they moved me to a new switch, and that seems to have cured the issue for the most part.

    Looking at the output of
Get-Process | Select ProcessName,PM,CPU,StartTime that you provided me on Discord, it looks as if certain threads of the haloded executable are running higher than average CPU usage. I am still looking through the output of
Get-Hotfix | Sort InstalledOn I'm trying to pinpoint if there's a botched update. The .NET Framework updates are usually a problem child from my experience, as well as the variations of the Meltdown/Spectre patches. There's not a lot of performance metrics against the newest Intel CPU update for the newest vulnerabilities.

I would recommend setting up some filters in Performance Monitor and letting it run over the course of 48 hours to see what processes are getting hung. Is there also a debug mode in the Halo dedicated server, that would be nice to collect logs on as well.

From the video this seems more like a network/desync issue than a executable gone rogue.

It's possible this may have something to do with the way the NIC on the box is configured itself. IE, is the MTU set to low? Does the switch that the server is connected to have the wrong port speed associated with the port (ie, 100Mbps instead of 1Gbps or higher)? Is QoS incorrectly configured on the switch? Another server that's on the network could also be hogging bandwidth as well. It may be deeper than your server and you will have to coordinate with the datacenter that's hosting the box to find this out, as you won't have access to any of that hardware.

I would add the console parameter to the end of your dedicated server launch line and view the output of the dedicated server.

Edit: If you have antivirus running, make sure the server and directory have the appropriate exceptions.

Edit 2: After running Wireshark on the box, I definitely do see that there's some UDP packets being dropped (malformed packets). I was going to check the MTU size and enable Jumbo Frames, but then I realized that the NIC version was outdated (default shipped with 2008 R2). We're updating the NIC now to see if this fixes the packet drop issues.

Edit 3: They moved him from one switch to another to maybe see if it was congestion on the switch. It helped a little but the issue still persists.

The compression quality on Imgur is pretty bad tbh. This is on my Thinkpad X240.

Off Ground was my second multiplayer map I made back in 2015, it was shitty, broken, etc. Now it has returned with stock weapons and a new balaced layout in weapons and player spawns
Sugestion was by The Culo\HCE Player TM to bring this map back

Not the best picture, but I recently got a tattoo. I will have to take one to show it after healing.

Also made some progress at the gym. Gained 50lbs (from 165ish) when I quit smoking, now I'm back down to 200ish.

Me and the ball and chain.

    That's been my life lately.
  11. WaeV liked a post in a topic by Solaris in How much should I charge the client for my mobile app?
Considering things like Deltek and whatnot, you are being ripped off for that kind of work and it sounds like the client is a cheap piece of shit that doesn't want to pay for already existing services. Don't develop it once and get a flat lump sum. Develop it, make it proprietary and make them sign a support agreement so the client doesn't come back 10 years later and expect you to update their software for free and threaten legal action if you refuse. The code is YOURS. Do not let them say that because it's their money it's their code. I would sit down with a lawyer that specializes in contract/licensing/service level agreements.

Went to an interview today for a SysAdmin position for a datacenter. I come back home and not even 30 minutes later they're giving me the offer letter.
  15. Takka liked a post in a topic by Solaris in What did you do today?
Some more adventures, will have to upload more photos later. I actually got to go out during the day after work. I was disappointed because I couldn't go to the top of Sandia Peak without a parking pass and I didn't have any cash, so I had to turn around and go back down the mountain... But, I drove up to over 11,000 feet. These photos were taken at around 7,000 or so.

After I came back down the mountain, I was going to go back to the hotel, but I said fuck it, and went the opposite direction and just followed the road. I started getting to this strange area on the road where there started to be Cow crossing signs with UFOs on them, it was kinda funny. I couldn't really stop on the side of the road to get a picture of one, but here's an example.

I made the unfortunate decision to buy a bookshelf from Walmart... it came with shitty hard-to-follow instructions with zero editorial review and not enough parts.

Picked up a 2 ton engine hoist for 100$ on craigslist. Tonight or tomorrow I am going to buy everything required to put the WRX block into the subie.

Update: Just dropped $534.11 on car parts, woot.
