I'm more of a redstone person than a building person. That said, nearly everything that has to do with redstone can be obtained in survival within an hour, so I certainly don't mind survival. Survival increases the thrill of the experience, too, forcing people to use many of Minecraft's items to survive.

With creative, people only grab the items they want.

Last time I went on a server hosted by anyone from OC, myself and a few friends built this:

However the map got corrupted and all data was lost.

Will you be having regular backups and shit?

I said sorry, at that point there wasnt much i could do, tekkit was an unstable pack.

Who am I but myself?

Alright, I've installed a few Bukkit mods to help our experience! I want to keep the server mostly Vanilla, but to prevent theft and grief, I have installed ChestLock, Residence, and SetSpawn.

ChestLock allows you to use commands (below) to lock, unlock, and share chests. This will prevent theft from guests and sneaky fingers.

/chest lock This locks the [chest, furnace, hopper], only you can access it.
/chest unlock This unlocks the [chest, furnace, hopper], only you can unlock it.
/chest info Shows you the information of this [chest, furnace, hopper]
/chest public This will make the [chest, furnace, hopper] public
/chest private This will make the [chest, furnace, hopper] private
/chest give NAME This will give the [chest, furnace, hopper] to NAME.
/chest admin open Opens a locked [chest, furnace, hopper] if you are op.
/chest admin override This will set the [chest, furnace, hopper] owner to you.
/chest admin reload This will reload the config.yml. (for when you edited config.yml)
/chest friend add NAME Adds NAME to the friend list.
/chest friend remove NAME	Removes NAME from the friend list

Residence allows users to pick plots of land for personal ownership. When claimed, the land is not editable by anyone else and is clearly displayed as "Player's" Property when entered. It's semi-simple if you follow the steps to set up a residence. The video below shows a great tutorial on how to use Residence.

/res create [ResidenceName] create a residence
/res remove [ResidenceName] remove a residence
/res removeall remove all your residences
/res select expand [amount] Expand selection in direction your looking.
/res select size show selected area size
/res select shift [amount] Shift selection in direction your looking.
/res select vert expand selection from sky to bedrock
/res area list [residence] list areas within a residence
/res area listall [residence] list areas and their coordinates for a residence
/res current show residence you're currently in (since 2.3.3)
/res info <ResidenceName> get info on a residence
/res list list residences you own
/res listall list all residences
/res limits list all important limitations
/res default [residence] Restores residence to default flags.
/res give [residence] [player] Gives residence to another player.
/res lists Predefined residence permission lists, do '/res lists' for details.
/res message [residence] [enter/leave] [message]
Sets a enter or leave area message.
/res renamearea [residence] [OldName] [NewName]
Rename a physical area attached to a residence.
/res tp [residence] teleport to a location
/res tpset set the teleport location in your residence.
