Posted January 8, 2021 (edited) Aerial aims to redesign Halo to resemble other arena shooters, introducing new gameplay through "launch" pads, pickups and a brand new weapon set. Almost everything was recreated from the ground up, all the models, textures, shaders and animations. so I'm proud to finally share a release. With that said, welcome to the arena! This is old and will no longer be updated, go to the MCC Workshop for the latest version. Blood Covenant MEGA Version 3 MEGA Classic version NOTES: Heavy Only game modes will spawn the Big Fuelrod Gun and the Chaingun. This tagset uses specific weapons on spawn, should this be unwanted, they will be disabled if the server runs any gametype with the general starting equipment. To enable the minimal HUD (recommended for 4:3 resolutions), make sure you are running Chimera alongside the console command chimera_split_screen_hud 1. There have been many changes over the development period of the mod, you can view some of them here. Spoiler You can view the old and ancient version of this mod on Halomaps. All the melee's would have been replaced by a general kick back animation. This would have increased the triangle count for the FP arms and wouldn't play nice with the FP legs script. The Magnum used to be an akimbo weapon. I just couldn't get the weapon fire animation to play on each weapon so this got cut. Sticking with a more grounded, single magnum, helped with it feeling more powerful too. The Needler looked more brutal with needles on both sides, and had a higher fire rate with a lower magazine. This didn't fit the "Halo lore" and made the Needler less fun to play with. Plasma Grenades used to be a trip mine when thrown on to walls. While being a cool concept this didn't fit the fast paced gameplay, and caused the game to crash due to chain spawning. All weapons didn't have to reload and had secondary fire modes. Reloads can define a weapon on how it feels and operates, so they were added back in. The same could be said for secondary fires as they made the game too chaotic. The Plasma Pistol used to be more of a Grenade Launcher. One of the many experiments that turned the Plasma Pistol into a grenade launcher, with a Biorifle like secondary. It didn't really fit the role of the plasma pistol so it just got shelved. The Rocket Launcher used to be more like the Halo 5 Hydra. It had a bigger magazine and the rockets were weaker, this would have pissed off a lot of veteran Halo players so it was reverted back to the older design. Vehicles Oh boy. All the vehicles would have been redesigned with their more unique quirks. for example, the turret would have been turned into a defensive Locust that could deploy a huge shield, kind of like the Paladin from Unreal Tournament! Unreal Tournament tagset After the first beta I lost motivation and just replaced everything with a custom Unreal Tournament tagset. This was done to quickly finish the mod and move on to other things. But looking back at the original mod design I felt that there was a good idea to build upon. There is actually an old leaked version of this online that you can play! TAGSET If you want to build your own map with this tagset then you can grab the full version below. it includes unseen goodies such as the machete and energy sword, and will be updated for singleplayer later. Forerunner styled maps have always been the best looking maps in CE and the reworked art style with it is tasteful. The outside areas are also super impressive.
