View count accuracy?

I see a a view count on posts that are pretty high relative to the regular posters. How accurate are these view counts? Are they bloated by bots and spiders or are there really that many people coming around?

Reminds me of how back years ago a local pizza joint had a view counter on their website that went up when you refreshed the page so my dad got the whole family to refresh the page until it got to 999999 or something like that and got it to roll over to 0 views. Was hilarious.

The site gets an average of 8 clicks an hour from search results, but we see almost 100 spiders in that amount of time too.

You are being watched.

I miss those days. Good clean fun. My entire family would play halo Trial and Old-school runescape (which was the main runescape at the time). Got me started making servers which I've done on and off (more on than off) for all this time. I miss the Internet pre-2010, there was a lot more freedom and things were a lot more lighthearted, but maybe thsts just nostalgia?

This has to have benefits from what I can tell, people using search engines to look for solutions to problems are almost guaranteed to come here to look for an answer.  While they may not make an account they're getting great advice.  The spiders are indexing things based on specific information, so a very specific problem is likely to already have been posted here and solved.  Particularly whenever I would search "sapp halo scripts" on google this site would come up in the top 3 results.

That's a very good point, didn't think of that.

I have halopc.org linked to my Github, which has a link to my ddos post here, which is probably bringing in both spider/bots and actual people. A frequented domain/website with a link here will do it for both bots and people.

Also backend traffic reports will often label "Google" as the referrer when people didn't actually literally use a google search, but an actual person found the site/page in some way, not sure why that is.
