Quick questions

Posted (edited)

Hey,

So im a newbie to SAPP. I just started playing halo again (Corona Virus of course lol....). I used to play back in the day when Phasor was more commonly used for servers. I have 2 paid servers through Elite Game Servers. They're public, but mostly used so my co-workers and some family members can group up and play together. There is a huge difference between Phasor and SAPP's in-game chat text commands. I'm having difficulties understanding SAPP. Things I was used to such as /give (whatever weapon)  or /spawn (whatever vehicle was needed) or /enter (whatever vehicle needed) is no longer available. Or is it?

Can someone help me better understand the /spawn function? I'm not understanding what this means:

/spawn <tag type> <tag name> [player index] [rotation]

/venter <player expression> [seat(=0)]

Can you also give me insight on how to get information on players -- such as hash keys. Is there a command that i can type such as /gethash 1 ?

Additionally, is there a command that i could turn off betraying with as well as spawn time?

Sorry if these questions are very "dumbed down." I am just trying to get a grasp on SAPP and figured ya'll could definitely help.

Thank you so much for your time.

Tiddy-bits:

Here's an excerpt from the documentation that Enclusion was referring to:

spawn <type> <tag_path> [player_number] [rotation]
Spawn an object at a player’s location. Type is the tag class. Use tools like HMT or Eschaton to retrieve tag paths. Rotation is in radians.

spawn <type> <tag_path> [location_name] [rotation]
Spawn an object at a location. Type is the tag class. Use tools like HMT or Eschaton to retrieve tag paths. Rotation is in radians.

spawn <type> <tag_path> [<x> <y> <z>] [rotation]
Spawn an object at an X/Y/Z coordinate, optionally providing rotation in radians. Type is the tag class. Use tools like HMT or Eschaton to retrieve tag paths. Rotation is in radians.

You can get players' hash keys from this command:

inf <player_expr>
Display a player’s CD-key hash, IP address, and index.

Here's some more commands related to location functions

loc_add <location_name>
Add a location to the location of the player.

loc_add <location_name> <x> <y> <z>
Add a location to an X/Y/Z coordinate.

loc_del <location_name>
Delete a location.

loc_list
List locations for the currently loaded map.

loc_listall
List all locations for all maps.

As for betraying, you could just set that in the gametype settings rather than relying on SAPP.

Thank you so much for your help and clarity. I'm not so familiar with what HMT or Eschaton is as far as the /spawn <type> goes... What does that mean?

And as far as the betraying, I'll make the adjustments.

Once again, thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it!

HMT and Eschaton are both modding tools.

You're welcome! Glad to help :)
