What are your thoughts on the Halo 2 flighting so far?

I have been enjoying it quite a bit. One thing that might just be me is that despite having the same sensitivity across versions Halo 2 feels much higher. Overall it performs pretty well and I am glad to see theater working for the most part.

Halo 2 is easily my favorite campaign (CE is my favorite multiplayer). It isn't perfect, but almost all of the issues are at no fault of the port - Halo 2 is just Halo 2. In fact, as far as how good of a port it is, it's actually quite good (besides instability issues). Most of the stuff from the original Xbox version is in here.

 

This kind of makes me feel sad. They dropped the ball so hard with Halo CEA and Reach. In my opinion, CEA is the worst port, as it has way too many audio, graphical, and technical issues that 343 won't fix at this point despite releasing it as if it was finished.

 

Unfortunately, the matchmaking is terrible due to how few people have access to the beta. 343 Industries should add a custom server browser, because waiting 30 minutes to get into a game makes me really not want to test this.

My favorite campaign is probably Halo 3. Probably the one I played the most seriously. I'm still working my way through CE legendary since I got back from a break and then once halo 2 is out of beta I'll do that legendary campaign for the first ever. I've heard stories about halo 2 legendary....

I didn't have much issue with reach but halo CE is just not great. Some people try to excuse it because of the issues with the port they were working on but as you know, more than most I'd expect, the communitie's work on the original halo CE without source has been better, comparatively, to people who had direct access. I don't understand how they did it.

 

Multi-player is weird. Somehow me playing using chimera on a halo CE server with the original bad net code (sometimes glitching around and all that) my bullets still hit when they should hit with little to no noticeable issue. CEA on the other hand is very strange feeling. When people strafe it sometimes seem like bullets just go right through them. 

 

Some stuff I could ignore like graphical things in the old graphics but there's a lot more. Halo CE campaign with the new graphics is just unplayable. Tons of the map doesn't overlap close enough so you will shoot around a corner and it'll hit the wall that is invisible.

Really? Sort of surprised to read that. I've had no issue except once extremly late at night (4am). Maybe it's an issue with region? I'm in central US with decent Internet and get matches easily. 

 

If 343 doesn't release a server browser along with dedicated server software that can be easily expanded, à la SAPP, the game will die. I have played halo Trial and halo 1 my entire life and have no memories in my life of it not being present but that was only possible due to servers with cool stuff. If I can't host my own servers on MCC I know I'll end up falling back and sticking exclusively to custom edition for my halo multi-player experience. 

 

343's handling of halo 3 is going to be a big deal for my hope for their company. Halo Online (El dewrito) was amazing and if they can't do an official port well it'll be very upsetting.

This was my favorite Halo; definitely looking forward to it but have never been invited to any MCC flight yet. =/

Oh, yeah. Halo 2's Legendary difficulty. Getting one-shot by highly accurate sniper Jackals is super fun. It also effectively gives you the Iron skull if you play co-op, as any player dying causes the game to reload a checkpoint, and that goes great with the jackals being fun.

 

If you don't want to have as much fun but still want to have a decent amount of fun, I'd just play Heroic, honestly.

I didn't have much issue with Reach, either. The sound is a little messed up, but not nearly as messed up as CE's.

I never encountered that issue. The game uses client-side hit detection, so if it hits on your client, it counts (though there's a bug where it doesn't play the sound unless the server registers the hit too). While this maximizes hit registration, it does mean that you have to play the game a bit differently.

Oh, yeah. If I wanted to play Halo CE with shitty Reach and Halo 3 rips, I'd just play SPV3 (no offense to SPV3 devs). The "remastered" graphics add nothing because they're based on PC graphics, and the classic graphics are just slightly better PC graphics.

I use CST, too, and I have trouble getting a game at night or even in the morning. Now... if there was a server list, I could just join a game in progress instead of having to wait to be put one before each game.

In all honesty, yes. The simple fact that Halo PC has dedicated servers and a server browser could make Halo PC outlast MCC despite Halo PC's flaws, age, and low player count. I know a lot of people think that that's insane, but having a bad matchmaking experience causes games to hemorrhage players if they can't get into games any other way.

Unfortunately, a lot of AAA PC games seem to have fewer features than they used to, as it gives the player a bit of control that the publisher doesn't have. This doesn't combine well with the fact that 343 Industries seems to have little experience with PC games.

Halo 3 is probably going to be their heavy-hitter. Nobody really cares about Halo CE or Halo 2, and Halo Reach is a shit game in all honesty.
