Servers Crashing for CoD World at War

25 posts in this topic

I've been trying to figure out why our Call of Duty: World at War servers keep shutting down when they are left online.  Anyone have any ideas on why that could be?

I know the configuration is correct as they run just fine when they are working but not after a while, a few days of being online...

Tiddy-bits:

I assume other hosts aren't having this issue?

All I can think of is possibly a memory leak, which didn't runaway because the software is probably only 32-bit. Check on the peak memory usage of one of the server instances at the time it fails, to rule out a memory leak. Separately, you should also try running an instance without any third-party modifications to it, to rule that out.

Oddly, this is familiar to you... as if from an old dream.

They are as standard, no modifications no add-ons.  Just a basic server, well 5 of them.

The strange thing is that I also have five Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare servers running and I have not had any issues with them yet.

Well then, all I can think of is a memory leak, but since it's stock and other hosts aren't encountering the issue, that's quite strange. How much memory does each instance typically use, and how much does one use at the time it crashes?

That I cannot say since it happens when I am offline.  I have had our server guru look in to it and even he cant get them going anymore. :(

Can anyone here assist me or should I say "us"?

Let me get a screenshot of task manager for you to show you what they are all using, you will see that they are all using roughly 115MB of RAM (we have 72GB by the way).  The below screenshot was taken just a few minutes ago and uploaded to photobucket to embed here.

Alright, well report back when you find the usage at or right before the crash. Just check on them regularly and note what they're at.

Well, that's something I was trying...  But it would not see the game at all, not on the update list.  Is there anything you can think of that would cause this?
