I had centurly link for a year when they offered some 20 bucks a month for 40mbps.

It was more like 15 mbps on a good day.  Constantly had outages.  Absolute garbage compared to the RapeMeWithNoLubeCable.

:-\   Google fiber y u no come to Phoenix like you planned?

If it flies, floats, or fucks, rent it.

Tiddy-bits:

We have a shitty ISP here called MetroCast (irony) because the county didn't want COMCAST to have a monopoly over Southern Maryland. They passed some laws that drew a line in the sand of where ISPs could service and effectively killed any competition that would compete with MetroCast. They've effectively blocked Verizon, AT&T, Time Warner, Comcast and even companies like Google from entering the area because a bunch of gray hairs don't want these companies killing their local business, even though that local business isn't worth a damn. The service they provide is terrible during peak hours with dropouts and latency spikes for even the most basic traffic. It's even worse around the holidays.

So to prevent a monopoly, they made it so there was a monopoly?

It's the opposite for us. They offer 40 mbps to us but we actually get 45 mbps, sometimes 50. DSL services have terrible quality control. Watch for that "up to" keyword.

That sucks dude. :( You got anywhere you can crash until you get on your feet again?

Yea, I'm at my grandmothers atm. But that's won't be a long term solution.

Yep, and the majority of the voting populace here do not realize the irony in that. They think they are saving small business by doing so.

So I found out what causes my modem to crash.

What happened was I switched the DNS manager on my laptop from Systemd-Resolved to Unbound, as Systemd-Resolved was giving me a few random issues where it wouldn't be able to resolve a certain hostname. Then, for some reason, whenever I'd connect to the Airport Extreme base station upstairs (which is connected to the modem downstairs; I never tried connecting to the modem downstairs directly because the wireless connectivity on it sucks even when you're in the same room), it would crash the modem downstairs after a few minutes. I switched back to Systemd-Resolved and the problem strangely went away.

Still, I'd think the usage of my laptop resulting in my entire modem to crash after a slight network configuration modification is a problem with the modem, not my laptop.

I swear people purposely make situations worst for themselves just to fuel their narcissistic personality, and victim persona.
