Best Lap-Time Recorder

47 posts in this topic

Hello, again.

Been a real problem, of late, with people finding little ways to exploit the fact they can die and be spawned ahead; again, leads to unrealistic times, when driving the route, and takes away from the fun of trying to match or beat a time, via more conventional means.

I've started to remove times that are obviously not normal, but it would be a huge help if, when someone dies, as when they lag, their time isn't recorded.

If any one could see their way to adding this, it would be greatly appreciated! =)

What if I added a new variable that would be like 30 seconds, for example, and if player died 30 seconds before scoring a lap then time isn't recorded? Or do you just want lap to not be recorded at all if they die?

Hey! Thanks for the timely reply!

Yeh, I'm thinking the latter; I don't think anyone is looking for their time to be breaking any records if they die, anyway (again, unless by an advantageous spawn).

Cheers.

Gave this a spin.

On foot-races, where you tend to die more frequently, it can seem a bit much, telling you your lap weren't recorded, upon completion of almost every lap.

Ideally, I'd, first, have separate messages for when a player's warped or died during any given lap, and then an option to turn those messages on or off. Alternatively, if, at least, the current messaging system could be turned on or off, I might configure it not to send a message on our mixed games servers.

Either way, I'm just glad that it doesn't count times where someone's died… so thanks heaps.

Clearing through the cob-webs, here, I were wondering if it's possible to block times recorded by a given hash code, in the case of a known glitcher, for instance (SAPP doesn't catch all instances of warping, it seems).

It is possible not to record the time, if the player gets out of the vehicle and goes back up, in some maps that can be a very big advantage. What I ask is an option to not record the time of a player if this at some point under the vehicle.
