Tiddy-bits:

They've been at it for a while.. they're certainly the dirtiest clan out there. =|

Oddly, this is familiar to you... as if from an old dream.

Well I can outsmart SmG, but not sure how to make it possible. Are the douchebags using with lua script or multi-clients?

They're using SAPP btw.

What exactly are we looking at here? Just the sheer volume of servers they create?

I think its more along the lines that the names of the servers aren't descriptive or creative, which implies the servers themselves aren't really creative or unique :P

Personally I like a server to describe what it is (I.E. "ROcKetS 24/7 Small Maps LOOP JAJAJA"). But, with the advent of people using Start-of-header ASCII characters in their init.txt files, naming conventions have gone to the wind in favor of as many SOH characters as can be fit in order to put the name higher up the rankings.

RG does this a lot, using

sv_name SOHSOHSOH ... SOH ... RG#

Basically these server admins take <max char number> - <actual name> = <#of SOH chars>.

So far there are even some that use exclusive SOH to get an "empty" name and appear at the top of the name-filtered lobby, or maybe even just 1 character.

Normally I would frown on this, but since it seems that the population of Halo now just sorts by name with filters for empty servers off, that you're almost forced to follow this new naming convention and seed the server with an AFK for players to even see your server at all, let alone join it. Throw that on top of the fact that classic Halo is hardly ever played by the majority of halo players in favor of ridiculous "top of cliffs and 1 gazillion teleporter" maps, or "oh shiz all da weps shuut rokits n tonk shalls" mods, that there's really no point to even trying anymore.

The only legit, classic servers that rely on the enjoyable nature of the original gameplay of Halo are the "pro" servers that are usually passworded and exclusive, so again, the options are slim.

That's honestly part of the reason I got out of clanning in favor of just a basic community, but even places like RealWorld just use the same maps and gametypes over and over again, to the point where there's really just the same group of people circlejerking over their favorite stuff.

Hence why I love projects like bigass, since it gives new content, new gameplay, new play styles, and doesn't have to rely on cheap-light-beer mod mentality to be fun or succeed.

Just my two cents, and this applies more to PC than CE.

Their servers have no players in them, yet they've somehow managed to make their server look full.
