Question about web browsers

What features would you guys like in a browser?

I am starting a Internet networking project with several Internet-related programs, a minimal on resource, yet full-featured browser being the first project. It is based on WebKit and I want to see how many features I can throw in a minimal browser before getting too much CPU/RAM usage. Thanks!

Members of Open Carnage never see off-site ads.

Number one feature in a web browser is the ability to browse the web, as its name explicitly says. It needs to browse the web and not be hindered by:

  • ads and popups,
  • poor rendering of the web page (web page should not look like shit at the fault of the browser),
  • malware (like viruses, trojans, spyware, or other harmful things),
  • useless features that cover up the web content or create unwanted distractions (like toolbars),
  • slowness, whether physical (like taking forever to open or load a page) or practical (like being forced to go to google.com to search Google instead of using the address bar to search)
  • cost (I refuse to pay money to use something that my computer already has. I also refuse to pay money for something that I already pay more money for Internet access)
Essentially, all I want a browser to do is receive the content I want from the Internet and present it inside of a window efficiently. Extra features should only be available when requested by the user. If you need to have a button that opens my downloads list, views RSS feeds, or launch NATO missiles, it needs to be out of the way, in a menu or something. Edited by 002

What 002 said. I don't want to use your program, at all. I want to use the internet.

Your program is a middleman, like a real-estate agent or an insurance salesman. Nobody wants to deal with it and they're happiest when it's as seamless as possible.
