Lethargy

Lethargy is a program that edits map files for the PC version of Halo 1. It opens any Halo PC or Halo CE (Custom Edition) map file and organizes it into an easy to use tree view. Lethargy provides a way to easily edit singleplayer, multiplayer, and user interface map files.

Features

* Meta editor: Once the user clicks a tag, a GUI will load that shows all of the tag's information. The user can then edit the tags properties and the map file will be updated automatically.

* Dependency swapper: This device can be used to swap virtually anything in the level with anything else in the level.Once a tag is selected, all of it's references to other tags will be shown. They can be swapped to reference any other tag, or double clicked to be accessed.

* Plugin support: The meta editing GUI is generated by XML plugins. The user can edit these plugins or download new sets for more powerful editing.

* Custom Edition support: Lethargy can open custom edition maps, allowing easier editing without the conversion of header information.

Examples of usage

* Each tag class has it's own GUI, allowing for very powerful editing to occur

* Swap anything with anything else

* Hundreds of maps, each with thousands of tags, each with hundreds of possible edits to be made, the possibilities are nearly endless

Important Notes

* Back up your map files! Doing certain things to a map file may cause an exception error, making the map file unusable. I am not responsible for any wrecked maps.

* Make sure the included 'plugins' folder is in the same directory as the 'lethargy.exe' file. If it is not, the meta editor will not function properly.

Tiddy-bits:

I do love how this site is collecting a lot of old stuff in a sort of museum-esque monument to the past days of Halo modding. Good stuff!

Looks like a much better version of HHT. I've never actually seen this before, just briefly heard of it.

rocket cam - make biped with rocket as model.

Projectile for rocket launcher is nothing, firing effect spawns biped. Biped constantly moving foward, controlled as "flying" flag. Biped attached effect emits particles that detect materials and upon impact create explosion with damage effect, and simultaneously destroy biped.

scripts move player from Chief to rocket biped and back when rocket is destroyed.

The last time I saw Patrick was on HaloMods... He's been gone for years.

Its big advantage over Eschaton is that the controls don't flicker when you scroll. There are also nice usability features, such as double-clicking a reference to jump directly to that tag.

I actually prefer to spend most of my time editing in Lethargy when I can, and Eschaton or HMT when I have to. The plugins aren't as complete as Sparky's set which only Eschaton can use, but on the other hand it's nice to have "the basics" more prominently visible. I can always use Sparky's set with Eschaton if necessary.

This was my system for a long time too.  I'd use Lethargy by default, then Eschaton when I had to.
