Welcome to the community! Hope to see ya around. =]

That's a nice rig you have there by the way, but it seems a bit lopsided with that 4890. My last build had a couple 4890's and they were fantastic back when they were new, but they really show their age these days. If you game at all, you might want to look into even a small GPU upgrade; it would make a huge difference considering your other specs.

Oddly, this is familiar to you... as if from an old dream.

Why do you need 12tb worth of hard drive space?

Could be some raid config, or possibly just a digital media collector (Though if I could shell out for 6 drives, I'd buy a NAS).

I do a lot of high res editing and I should have added that I have my caviar's in Raid 1. Also I have been meaning to upgrade my 4890 but it's really on the back burner right now xD. But the only games that i haven't really been able to play are the Dx11 games like Ghosts or Crysis 3 but other than that im able to play almost any game @ medium or high with no AA.

Depending on how well I can play games with my current GPU (R7870), I might consider getting a GTX 970. I haven't really been able to test my new CPU on demanding games.

As of September 24th, 2014:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k @ 4.2GHz - I hope to achieve 4.4GHz

Cooler: Corsair Hydro H80i AIO

Mobo: MSI Z97-G45 Gaming

Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600MHz

GPU: Asus Radeon HD 7870 DC2 V2

SSD: Corsair Force GS 128GB

HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB SATA3 64MB

PSU: OCZ ZS 550w 80+ Bronze

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912+

OS: Windows 7 Pro

I boot to desktop in about 10.5 seconds :)

Go for it. In my opinion it has really impressive performance for the price you pay. It's faster than what I have in my rig and almost half the price.
