Posted July 1, 2013 I downloaded the map and I converted just fine for me. Try redownloading Pearl and making sure the app itself is not renamed anything other than Pearl. NeX likes this
Posted September 3, 2013 Downloaded windows version and attempted to convert an unprotected standard Custom Edition map -> MD. Wound up with "An exception of class KeyNotFoundException was not handled. The application must shut down." Tried again with the CE map -> Full instead, same issue. Info: Target Map: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\maps\mapname.map" Full Maps: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo\MAPS" CE -> FULL error CE -> MD error No idea what I'm doing wrong here, any help would be greatly appreciated. Saw the post about making sure the application was named nothing but "Pearl", so I tried again renaming Pearl 2.exe -> Pearl.exe, same issue, no go. The error happens as soon as the info goes to "rebuilding tag data".
Posted September 4, 2013 What map is it? Make sure the Libs and the Resources folder are with the application and that your maps folder is unmodified. NeX likes this
Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) Custom Edition map "Prime_T3". Uses all original tagset for weapons/vehicles/biped for tournament style play (The "T" in T3 denotes, this there's another version with custom stuff that is Prime_C3). Link Yes, I simply extracted Pearl 2.zip's contents to the desktop (I tried it first in Program Files), all the folders are in the correct places (assuming they were packaged that way), and I haven't moved anything around. I downloaded, extracted, and attempted to use it. I've tried several different CE maps to see if it was maybe just a bad map for it, but that didn't help either. Same error, at the same point in the rebuilding process. If it helps the error occurs right around when the green progress bar is about 50% across the screen during the converting/rebuilding process. EDIT* the maps fodler for HPC (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo\MAPS) i'm using an all original map set, with original bitmaps.map, sounds.map, ui.map, etc. The only non-original map I have in the folder is Tucker's phoenix2_8.map. I use a seperate folder for all of my modded stuff, and simply rename the folders for using an original map set vs the modded ones. Should I remove the phoenix map from the original map set during conversion? Or would that affect it at all? Tried again with Yoyorast, since it's one of the most iconic CE maps out there, and still gettin' the same error. This time i tried converting while the CE map was on the desktop to avoid permission problems, still a no go. Edited September 4, 2013 by NeX
Posted September 30, 2013 When I try to use the program (Windows 8 and in a virtual machine running Windows Server 2008 R2), the drop down box where I presume you choose [Version] -> [Version] is empty. It's that typical drop down glitch where nothing appears by default and when you try to click on it, it gives you a long completely empty list. Posted October 1, 2013 (edited) I never did get this to work for me - I ended up having to just use a Mac VM to use Halo MD and MD renamer. Even tried Pearl2 on the mac install and just got a NilObjectException When i had NilObjectExeption it was because i had a wrong program name, the Name of the program shortcut should've been "Pearl" while i had it named "Pearl 2". When i just changed the shortcut name to "Pearl" it worked just fine. Ps. I hope this is the source of your problem, then this would help.
