Posted June 26, 2016 Go back to creating the same message/post, give it like 5 seconds, and it will say in the same place that you can restore previous draft by clicking on the text. Oddly, this is familiar to you... as if from an old dream.
Posted June 26, 2016 Yeah this is only the second time it's happened to me but I'll start doing that in the future. I'll check there to see if it saved then.
Posted June 26, 2016 IPB4 has a much better system for auto-saving and restoring content, so hopefully you don't have to deal with the IPB3 process again. It works most of the time, but not always. Posted June 26, 2016 I did your recommendation, didn't see anything there. I'll just retype it later I guess.
Posted June 26, 2016 So many times this has happened to me so I got into the habit of highlighting and hitting ctrl + C in the event I stuff up. NeX likes this https://www.twitch.tv/krazychic
Posted June 26, 2016 Ctrl-C sort of works. I find it doesn't work perfectly unless you have rich text editing off. Notepad & clones are still the greatest for anything over a paragraph or two. Save drafts to disk -- protected even if your internet disconnects or the power goes out. Option for text-wrapping even when writing raw BBcode (forum editor doesn't wrap when in raw mode). Option to see whitespace. Doesn't copy formatting when you paste from a bolded header like this NeX likes this Lots o' Source Code: ➢ https://halo.tools/git/explore/reposGuides:➢ Mapfile Overview➢ Halo Versions and Converters➢ Read Halo's memory in 40 lines of C#

Posted June 27, 2016 Doesn't copy formatting when you paste from a bolded header like this I use Microsoft Word because it preserves formatting. You will need to change the text color to Auto, though, so you can read it after pasting it in.
Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) Amen to all of this. My biggest problem is that if I'm really getting into a discussion that warrants long periods of typing, they're usually centered around some sort of research, so I'm changing tabs and copy/pasting links and references - which, like WaeV said, often results in my hitting the backspace with no text field selected, and losing all of it. I really just started typing shit in Notepad++, and then pasting it into the field afterwards. That's often why my longer posts have little to no formatting in them, because by the time I've ranted it all out, there's no more time for that bullshit. Also, if it happens, I never retype. I just leave and cut my losses. Forgot to mention, there used to be an extension called "Lazarus" that had a decent reputation for remembering form-data. Unfortunately it seems to have bought the farm in terms of quality. I can't imagine a simple extension to retain the contents of text fields for X minutes after last interaction would be that incredibly difficult, or even memory intensive. Yet trying to find one yields nothing satisfying. Edited June 30, 2016 by NeX
