This weapon is extremely glitchy and I don't know why. It puts me in third person mode when I pick it up and kills me if I enter vehicles.

This map takes the player to the streets of the outskirts of New Mombasa during the Seige of Earth.

Utilizing CMT's Evolved Tagset, the map features modern Halo weapons and characters. The expansive map covers 4 separate Halo 2 Levels. Turf and the Campaign Level Outskirts have been stitched together and then attached to a separate BSP comprised of Headlong and Terminal.

The AI drop from Phantoms throughout the map, and wherever you may travel you will come across AI battles between UNSC and Covenant forces. You are a small part of a greater battle, and wherever you choose to fight you struggle to tip the scales in the defense of the city.

When my Great Grandfather passed many years ago my family gathered at his house afterwards to mourn. We sat telling stories, going through old knickknacks and memories. One in particular was an ornament for Christmas; it was a bell with a pull string, and when pulled it would play a song like a musicbox.

My great grandfather was 94 when he passed, and that ornament had been pulled one too many times and had become stuck over the years, with the string fully pulled and stuck. It had been that way for at least 20 years at that point, longer than I had been alive at the time. But with my family gathered, in a lull of the laughter between memories, that string came loose and the bell played it's song again. After decades of being stuck, in that one moment it came loose. There was no question; He was saying hello. Letting us know he was fine.

Today, his daughter, my Grandmother, passed away. I was by her side at the end, holding hands at her bedside. At a point I closed my eyes and felt something alive between our hands, it stayed for maybe 5 or 10 seconds, then the feeling passed and when I opened my eyes so had she. We called my Grandfather in and everybody else rushed by as well. Vassar Hospital sits on the Hudson River in upstate NY. In the early morning the sun was shining across the riverbed, with everybody focused on her I walked across and opened the shades. I knew my grandmother would've liked the view, and I needed my family to be reminded; She was dying in a beautiful place, surrounded by those she loved.

The whole time my Grandmother was in the hospital, every day for weeks, she was visited by a bird on her windowsill. My grandmother had a connection with birds; in our family Grandma found out secrets because "A little birdy told her". My nephew when little would hide from the windows at her house, so that "Your bird can't see me". Even in the hospital they were still checking in on her.

And as it would be that bird landed on the windowsill. Not a minute after the shades were opened; It hopped back and forth just enough for us to notice, and then flew off into the world. There was no question; She was saying hello. Letting us know she was fine.

My whole life I've been a man of function; that which can be seen, that which can be heard. But there are some things in this world no man can give explanation to. Between Christmas Bells and Birds on the Windowsill; I'm not sure about anything anymore.

In the newer halo games i believe they use a separate model to control collision for the BSP than whats actually rendered visually

I thought and realized H1 can do this too. There are flags for render only and collision only; one could build an entire level using render-only geometry with a cloned, very basic underlying mesh marked as collision only.

The rendered layer doesnt have to follow any sealed world rules and so can be exceptionally complex.

The only catch is the +sky materials; tool will want these to be sealed. Where the sky is meant to appear on the rendered geometry would have to match where youre collision's sky material is.

All theory, but it works on paper. Just thought it an idea worth sharing.

    it works like this: os_tool build-cache-file-ex "" 0 0 1 scenario-directory\scenario
    so for instance: os_tool build-cache-file-ex "" 0 0 1 levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch

use quotes if spaces are in the path, those two quotes at the beginning are to make it not have a string for identifying data files by giving it nothing.

    Oh bullocks.

I'll have those uploaded later tonight.

I built it with the intent of it not needing resource maps. Not sure what happened.
Upload has been updated, place all the files within the folder MAPS into your MAPS folder in the Halo Custom Edition directory.

Working feverishly through the night to add major content updates.

Tomorrow the release topic should be up with the download. The current mapfile, even in its current half compiled state, could easily stand on its own as a release.

In most cases, you can't buy a domain immediately after it expires. They'll likely hold onto it for a few days then auction it off.

Yeah you can't make a mod then join a dedicated server not hosting it. On standard PC Halo, there are few exceptions to this rule, but none of them will affect gameplay. Additionally, in some scenarios you can host a mod without the player needing to have the same map, but these are the most basic of edits.

On CE, you can't do any edits to the map. CE was made for modders, and for that reason it checks to be sure all players are running the exact same mapfile.

Halo works as a host-based game. The only game that's actually happening is on the Host, as a Client you're sort of like a remote control sending signals through the internet.

The only thing I can think of without using a library to do so is by editing the ui\hud\bitmaps\hud_multiplayer bitmap.

If you want to edit your bitmaps.map file, you'll need to use a program like HMT or Eschaton, open a map with the tag, then edit this tag. Using a completely blank (black) alpha channel should do the trick.

So found out OS also allows for Normal Maps to be rendered by Static Lighting on the BSP, which means this is definitely a .yelo now. Excited to combine that with Lightmaps baked with 3DS Max/Aether.

    One last bit;

    Headlong and Terminal in sapien.

New Mombasa in Sapien as well.  This BSP is going to need some seriously creative portals, only because of the location I took this shot from. This is where you first enter the BSP, and when you walk in and see the New Mombasa BSP in front of you, and then turn to the right and see Chronopolis, that's the moment I'm looking for. That "Holy shit, there's still all of THIS to explore" moment.

    Edit: No more updates.

Highly enjoyable. Good encounters, fun vehicle segment later in the level. Loved it even more for glitching and getting out of maps, lots of area to explore. Scarab Gun of course.

Rendering Directional Lightmaps on the BSP in 3DS now. Takes ages, but I should get a good enough render to use for now. I think the structure will look fantastic with bump maps on permanent rendering. On buildings with flat faces it should really stand out.

Edit: 8 hrs later and I'm about 1/3 of the way through the render. Can't believe it.
