The only thing that you all have in common is that you're OpenCarnage users. Therefore, any sleeping disorders are quite likely to be Tucker's fault.

    Something something causation ≠ correlation.

Radar spoils the competitive aspect of the game.

My only guess is that some programmer did it on a whim for performance reasons. Perhaps they didn't want OEMs accidentally adding huge wallpapers and adding several extra milliseconds to the loading time for that screen. I've tried it with a 7MB file and it was perfectly fine, albeit on a fast machine.

OpenGL has been due a revamp for a long time; it was supposed to be done years ago but didn't materialise. There's just so much cruft and legacy code that they really needed a clean sheet.

Given that the specs aren't public, I think it's way too early to pit D3D12 and Vulkan against each other but it would please me if Vulkan ended up being at least as good as D3D12 and as widely and well supported. As things stand, D3D is just a better API than OpenGL in all but its proprietary nature.

Writing cross-platform code isn't that difficult and having an equally-as-good or better API supported on every major platform could be a nice boost to gaming on Linux and Mac. Having no good reason to pick D3D over Vulkan would just be one less barrier.

Having said all that, again, its too early to judge. Vulkan sounds like it'll be more work to get up and running initially, in exchange for more power and flexibility. I can understand why they went down this path though. If you want a pretty good post that explains the rationale, see this one.

It's absolutely not useful so long as there are only 16 cores, and 64 isn't a sweet enough deal for me to buy in. Allegedly this architecture scales really well, though -- 256 cores might be interesting.

I'd also like to see some independently-verified benchmarks. I'm sure transferring data into the epiphany grid to be processed isn't a cheap operation.

Players have forever been switching to the winning team - nothing new. The sad part is actually caring about winning in a game with no ranking or stats system on Death Island. Death Island, people.

Yeah, the budget display is only for the BSP as it's the main trouble spot in maps - the other budgets won't be causing geometry problems. I could add other budgets too, which I think 002 has done on the Mac side of things.

HAC2 is probably covering your back with that one. Use 'budget_show 1' to find the problem areas, although whether anything can actually be done about them...

If they somehow manage to kill the Elites with the swords, they'll never be able to do the Maw run. That's all assuming they can get across the bridge after the lifeboat crash though.

Edit: There's actually a large number of areas that I can't see them having much luck with.
