  1. "hell tools" These are a version of the MCC CEA mod tools that are modified to ignore all of the block limits when opening tags (e.g. object counts in scenario tags). The limit on the number of flags and objects you can place in Sapien has also been removed. Download (Updated for MCC 2023/07)

  5. The official master server is currently running again. It seems to have been upgraded so should in theory be more reliable.
  6. gsm.xetav.com is another running master server instance. It would be nice to have some way to scrape all of these so the few remaining players don't get split off more.
  7. Might be useful to block grenades on race servers since so may people ruin it these days.

  11. I think it would be better to prevent the score going below the current highest score +1 (or more for koth etc.). I think having the game end with a loss because someone quit would feel kind of cheap.

  16. Oh yeah you should add that tool build-cache-file changed the way scripts are compiled into maps. It now ignores the scripts in the scenario tag and always uses the scripts in the data directory. This means if your extracted map has scripts you have to run "invader-recover /path/to/scenario.scenario" so the plain .hsc is extracted to the data directory, or else scripts will be wiped from the map.
  17. I have seen a few people use WINE around here so here is a short guide on you need to do in order to get these tools to work. I have tested this on wine-staging 6.20 and have not tried any previous version. You will need the following dependencies, the first two can be installed with winetricks. Visual Studio 2015 runtime: winetricks vcrun2015 MSXML 3.0: winetricks msxml3 Finally you need an original "D3DCompiler_47.dll". This file is only available from windows itself, and what's worse copies from Windows 10 or Windows11 will NOT WORK. To get around this you need the version from Windows 8.1. For convenience I have attached them here. For Halo CE and Halo 2: D3DCompiler_47 32-bit For Halo 3: D3DCompiler_47 64-bit Copy the DLL into the same directory as the mod tools and then set a DLL override in winecfg like so: Halo Combat Evolved seems to be the most stable, the tools honestly run better than the old Gearbox versions. Halo 2 also seems to work well enough. Halo 3 unfortunately is not as stable, Guerilla crashes on open and the "tag test" build can sometimes randomly crash. Pictures:
  18. Is there any reason to automate it though? MCC can load custom edition maps as-is so if the goal is only to rebuild it without changing anything to make use of the new engine fixes then why not just use the original map file? As fas as the question, I would not worry about permission too much as many CE maps are mods of other custom maps anyway including some very popular ones, often made without asking. To me it would be hypocritical to take issue with someone editing you stuff (as long as credit is properly given) when the content itself is an edit of Bungie's game. The only exception to this would be if the map used 100% original tags but I have yet to see one of those.

  20. SAPP crashing because of the corrupt UPX header is probably a wine bug considering it works on windows, that said the fact SAPP does that is still dumb. It's disappointing the last server mod for this games is obfuscated and closed.
  21. I think you can evade this with hidden Unicode characters like zero width space.
