  1. What do you guys think about a new thread for sharing artwork-related images? I wanted to post this, but it wouldn't fit in Funny Pictures. Check it out! According to the date on this artwork it seems to have been painted in '79.
  2. I want to see what sort of cool software you guys have found useful. Try to include screenshots! I'll start. VirtuaWin Linux has workspaces. OSX has Spaces. Why not Windows? That's what VirtuaWin aims to provide! Free as in Freedom (GNU-licensed), and it actually works well for something I would wholly expect to be hacked-together. It doesn't provide nice swooshy animations, but it does let you have up to 20 virtual desktops. The configuration wasn't extremely straightforward, but I figured it out well enough. My laptop has been running 3x2 desktops for a couple weeks now, no problems whatsoever. Unlike Linux (not sure about Spaces), you won't get a little preview of what's on each workspace, but I find it serves me well enough. I prefer the digit-indicator. It supports Win9x/ME/NT/Win2K/XP/Win2003/Vista/Win7, 64-bit as well as 32-bit versions, and can even be run portably. Pick up a copy here: http://virtuawin.sourceforge.net/
  3. Apparently it's possible to force Halo to run in widescreen on the original Xbox using a few hex edits. Search for "Halo" on this page http://ps2wide.net/xbox.html

ok, this is epic. though, im being told that "ps2wide.net uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.
      Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT"

  4. I'm interested in hosting my own dedicated server, but I'm not sure which host to use. Since Linux instances tend to be cheaper than Windows, I'll probably run halodedi.exe via Wine. Any suggestions or pointers?
  5. I vaguely remember the community being somewhat fragmented by version number.
  6. Tough but fair. MCC needs to step up their game.
  7. I'm so glad I moved into a house just a couple months before the pandemic. Having a backyard to go out in has been supreme. My veggie garden definitely isn't enough to live off of, but it's been fun to plant potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, and cilantro.
  8. Haha, love this technical term.
  9. Pearl 2 is able to convert from Trial/Demo to PC, but converting to CE is harder. Maybe invader can do it? Years ago I made a diagram for all the different conversions, but there wasn't any good way to convert to CE at the time.
  10. Oh, is that what your WIP videos in Discord are? I guess the other renderer option would be the Swordedit enhancements Samuco was working on back in the day?
  11. Oh, in that case I vote multiplayer. I didn't care about the campaign until I owned the PC version.
  12. Is there a source link so I can try compiling this on my own system? I'm on Debian which should be similar enough to Arch.
  13. Sidewinder splitscreen system-link at the local gamestore was definitely an eye-opener for me. I was just dying to get the PC version when it launched. Didn't own an Xbox way back then so I can't vote in the poll.
  14. Dang, I had no idea Mozarilla was a thing. I've been out of the loop too long. Nice work @Moses_of_Egypt!

  15. Yooo this looks excellent!
  16. Not sure? I know that was always SAPP's killer feature. There's a reference to nolead here: https://github.com/urbanyoung/Phasor/blob/6a272dd51ac9a941a71a005077a643b0d7d1afaa/Phasor/Phasor/Halo/Hooks.cpp#L1416
  17. Other than source-code being available under the MIT license, of course. https://github.com/urbanyoung/Phasor
  18. Have y'all heard of our lord and savior Bitcoin?

I still regret not getting in on it when it was $20 coin.

  19. I started playing Skyrim in VR... vanilla for now but I'm excited to try some mods out. Skywind is going to be epic when it finally arrives. I can't believe it's fully voiced!
  20. Age of Empires II. After a decade of inactivity it got an unofficial expansion pack Forgotten Empires and an HD remake at about the same time. Then the modders got hired and ported The Forgotten, followed by two more expansion packs and now a Definitive Edition. I'm not totally pleased with AoE2:DE as it has way higher performance requirements, but overall it's a faithful recreation and I only have minor quibbles.
  21. QT is definitely the best free UI toolkit around right now. Last I looked, QTreeView was the only performant treeview-with-columns that I could find across any UI libraries.
  22. I wish MCC would let you choose the map you want to play on. Still haven't managed to play Danger Canyon CTF on MCC.

Yeah, I think Hang 'Em High is fun but games tend to drag on, especially CTF.

I used to love it until I realized how flawed it is. I really wish they'd put the Halo 1.5 maps in MCC. That would be excellent.

Oh man, I forgot about Halo 1.5 maps!

  23. Wow, that's the coolest Halo 1 content I've seen in a long time. I'm surprised nobody noticed those lines before.
