@Kavawuvi, I am as active as I can be, but I find that a lot of players are online when I am in bed, since the US for example are between 5 hours (east coast) and 8 hours (west coast) behind us.  This of course does not include Hawaii.

It is a struggle to be around when I am so tired, and sometimes, especially at the weekends, I sleep all day to be up and able to play online most of the night, then back to bed for the day.  It is something I am trying to mmanage, but it is not easy, believe me.  This is why I thought a script could be written that would help us to combat these botting scum of the Halo Community.  We have had members of other clans post about people botting in our servers, and most occasions they provide evidence, and I spend hours updating all of the servers to keep that player out, the updates are always done at the weekend usually on a Sunday.  People also report that known cheats like "fou" are playing in our servers and I have managed to get the BoS "event" thing to work as well.

What we need are more members that we can promote to admins and have them help to moderate our servers, but these days, it is very difficult to get people to join us!

He's a pain in the arse cheat.
  3. Solaris liked a post in a topic by Thomas in Halo CE servers very laggy! Dont know why!
It turned out to be a peer issue.  A really big one at that.

I am not certain where or where the issue actually lies, but suffice to say that for the most part the issue has gone.  I do still get the odd lag spike, but it was nowhere near what it was when Solaris was assisting me.

I would like to thank everyone who suggested possible fixes in this thread, especially to Solaris who took the time out of his own day to help me figure out what the problem actually was, and after passing this data to
my hosts, was able to get them to try a few new things they never did before.  I saw a pretty dramatic improvement when they moved me to a new switch, and that seems to have cured the issue for the most part.

    Looking at the output of
Get-Process | Select ProcessName,PM,CPU,StartTime that you provided me on Discord, it looks as if certain threads of the haloded executable are running higher than average CPU usage. I am still looking through the output of
Get-Hotfix | Sort InstalledOn I'm trying to pinpoint if there's a botched update. The .NET Framework updates are usually a problem child from my experience, as well as the variations of the Meltdown/Spectre patches. There's not a lot of performance metrics against the newest Intel CPU update for the newest vulnerabilities.

I would recommend setting up some filters in Performance Monitor and letting it run over the course of 48 hours to see what processes are getting hung. Is there also a debug mode in the Halo dedicated server, that would be nice to collect logs on as well.
  6. Thomas liked a post in a topic by Solaris in Halo CE servers very laggy! Dont know why!
From the video this seems more like a network/desync issue than a executable gone rogue.

It's possible this may have something to do with the way the NIC on the box is configured itself. IE, is the MTU set to low? Does the switch that the server is connected to have the wrong port speed associated with the port (ie, 100Mbps instead of 1Gbps or higher)? Is QoS incorrectly configured on the switch? Another server that's on the network could also be hogging bandwidth as well. It may be deeper than your server and you will have to coordinate with the datacenter that's hosting the box to find this out, as you won't have access to any of that hardware.

I would add the console parameter to the end of your dedicated server launch line and view the output of the dedicated server.

Edit: If you have antivirus running, make sure the server and directory have the appropriate exceptions.

Edit 2: After running Wireshark on the box, I definitely do see that there's some UDP packets being dropped (malformed packets). I was going to check the MTU size and enable Jumbo Frames, but then I realized that the NIC version was outdated (default shipped with 2008 R2). We're updating the NIC now to see if this fixes the packet drop issues.

Edit 3: They moved him from one switch to another to maybe see if it was congestion on the switch. It helped a little but the issue still persists.

The link you posted is for the game itself, not the server.

Well, that's something I was trying...  But it would not see the game at all, not on the update list.  Is there anything you can think of that would cause this?

There is no source, it's a known fact.  The more massive something has the more gravity it has.  It is what keeps you, me and everyone and everything stuck to the surface of our planet.

Same, been on one myself and been back 3 weeks now.

I have spent 3 weeks in the U.S chasing tornadoes.  Saw the Canton, Texas ones on April 29th.  I was actually there by the way.

I think Theresa has a rather firm idea of what is going on, especially with her having served as Home Secretary prior to becoming PM.

As compared to suspending elections? The point of terrorism is to disrupt daily life as much as possible, to make people fearful of leaving their homes, to cause disruption in the operation of society. Any location with a group of people larger than 20 is a potential target for extremists, which means malls, tourist attractions, stations, ports, schools, concerts, ect... do you suspend shopping, travel, vacationing, commerce, entertainment and school?

With the threat of terrorism, each action has inherent risks. With a theoretical suspension of elections, what is the potential for mass protests and public demonstrations? Is the potential great enough that large crowds would gather, which would be a far more inviting and viable soft target to a terror cell, than a say polling station.

You seem to have gotten your months wrong. May 22nd was the Manchester Arena bombings, March 22nd was the Westminster attack.

These animals are already known the the intelligence agencies, but there's not a lot that they can do about people who MAY be linked to radical Islam/extremism without them plotting or acting in a way that would be dangerous to the general public. I have no doubt that if they were apprehended on the thing that they may be involved with some sort of terrorism, they would go down the legal route against the Government.

Let's be honest though: These vehicular massacres don't take any real planning as such. It doesn't matter how much intelligence we have, anyone who has been radicalised can drive their vehicle on to the footpath at any moment.

I'd love nothing more than for our Government to round these 'wolves in sheep's clothing' up and isolate them in internment camps like we did in the 20th century, but it won't happen.

We should be grateful that our Police service (which is mainly unarmed!) was able to act so quickly in these incidents. With our strong links to the USA, we in the UK have been 'let off lightly' in comparison to France whose death count due to terrorism exceeds 300+ in recent years.

Recent attacks in the UK have been by radicalised British nationals.

    Hello members of OC!

I have not been on a lot since I have been pretty busy trying to get our site working and with a little help from our Vice President (I am President), we have a functioning website that is being constantly updated and managed.

I am also hosting a dedicated server that comfortably hosts 150+ game servers and I recently had its RAM upgraded from 32GB to 72GB to help it run faster since it was only leaving a few hundred MB when it was on just 32GB.  This server costs me $70/mo and thus far is running really well.  I currently have a 120GB SSD (for the OS) a pair of 2TB HDD's (one a 7200rpm for game servers and the other a 5400rpm for backups) and a 3TB HDD also a 7200rpm drive.  It has a pair of Intel Xeon E5530's, each one has 4 cores and 8 threads @ 2.4GHz and it has a 1Gb port with the ability to add another if needed.  This server only has the ability to have 4 drives installed, although with 7TB, we have more than enough for the time being, I doubt we will need any more than that.

We are and are always recruiting new members, we welcome anyone no matter where they are from.  Unless of course we have a reason to decline applications.  We use a U.S Army based ranking system, much more concise and also much easier to work with instead of having a simple "Member" "Moderator" "Admin" one, people cannot pull rank this way.  Most of our servers are Halo, although we have a few other games including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty 5: World at War, Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, and the entire Counter Strike series. Our unofficial games are: World of Tanks, World of Warships, World of Warplanes and Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy.  As you can see, we have quite a few games.  I am also planning to add a set of "ArmA III" servers as well, I have to buy the game first...

I think that is all for the time being.

P.S.  If I have posted this thread an incorrect location, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    «DN»Lasky®
    President of Dark Nexus.

I am currently running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.  I have been debating on weather to update to Windows 10 for some time and I am not really that convinced.  For the time being, I have moved the installer files for Windows 10 on to a USB drive as it was taking the better part of 6GB on my SSD.  My system wont have any trouble running it at all.

    My specs:
24GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz, 256GB SSD, Intel Core i7 4710MQ @ 2.5GHz 4 cores/8 threads (although CPU-Z often says it is running at 3.2GHz) and I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M (2GB).  I am sure Windows 10 will run just fine on this system, but I am more inclined to stay with Windows 7 for the time being because of the horror stories I have heard.  In any event, I prefer Windows 7 anyway.  As for the reason I purchased Windows 7 Professional instead of sticking with Home Premium which originally came with this system, it is because Home Premium wont allow you to use more than 16GB of RAM, which is just silly.  I had no choice but to upgrade to Professional to make use of the extra 8GB or it would sit there doing nothing, and I wasn't having that.  Even with 24GB of RAM in my laptop, I have still maxed it out on a few occasions, however, when I double the capacity on my SSD, I will add an 8GB swap file to effectively bring my RAM up to 32GB, that may make things easier.  Currently I dont have a swap file as I did not think I required it but clearly I may well do.  It may be that I decide to add a swap file of 40GB to effectively give myself 64GB, I know that its not real RAM, but it will help right?  I have always wanted a laptop with 32GB or even 64GB of RAM but the price of them is way out of my price range, and now I have to continue saving for my second visit to the U.S to do some more storm chasing.

    Hello everyone!

I thought I would drop in and say hello, and nice board, I am impressed!

As you can see, I am Thomas. I am a Halo gamer with every release of Halo, and now I am waiting for the release of Halo 5: Guardians on October 27th.

I have also been looking at modding Halo CE maps, however, I am unsure how to edit the maps using the editing kit downloadable from halomaps.org.  Perhaps a few pointers could be of use.

    Anyway, nice site.
