  1. So this is pretty new to me. Apparently pressing printscreen crashes my copy of Halo now. It never did that before. Sometimes it simply ends a LAN game with "Network Error". Additionally, now I have to run the game as administrator to load certain maps (Bloodgulch, but not beavercreek etc...). This also applies to any other tools, and happens even on a fresh install of the maps. This just started happening recently, I have no idea what the cause is. The biggest problem for me is that I can't take screenshots now, and I'm working on a mod for someone with no way to show them the new bitmaps.
  2. You know you're addicted to space when you have racked up 105 hours ingame: And when you build this thing: It's a refueling station. I launched each section seperately and spent hours docking them together. It carries a massive amount of fuel. And, then when you spend more than 2 days building this thing (while in orbit, each part is connected via docking ports), you know you're really addicted. This is a shuttle that has enough fuel to get to the moon and back, I refuel it after each trip using the above station. All of the fuel tanks in both of these contraptions are the same, I just launched a bunch of them into orbit and docked the ones I needed. This is what it looks like when it's getting into orbit. This is a nuclear engine module for my newest ship... a Mars transit shuttle/refueling station. If you look really closely to the right (in the black space) you can see a few white pixels, that's the refueling station whizzing by.
  3. My office supplies MacBooks to all the administrators, specialists, and engineers. They run a spectrum of Mac OS versions since they don't have any configuration management installed. A lot of other company departments supply Windows 7/8/10 workstations in addition to Macs. We also use a menagerie of Linux distributions on over 8000 servers, lots and lots of Linux distributions. Debian, Ubuntu, Arch, CentOS, RHEL, SUSELES, OpenSUSE, and the list goes on!
  4. I've been working on programs which randomly generate art, it's a fun way to relax and be creative with code. The results have been interesting so far! I've named them Lin, Dot, and Fern. Adding more soon. You can see and run the "artists" here: https://floofies.github.io/artists/ Here's some interesting examples of what they can do:
  5. It's been a wild couple of months for me, and looking back I think I could probably say the same about the last 6 years. Right now I've become an alcoholic and I'm struggling to find my way in life, dealing with psychological damage that was caused by my ex boyfriend. In October I got away from my abusive, sociopath, child molesting ex, after a SWAT team busted down our front door at 6AM. I was no longer a handcuff virgin at that point, and they interrogated me for several hours as I slowly began to find out just who I had been living with for 6 years. He was in jail for several weeks and only recently got released, and this morning I found out one of his family members most likely told him my new address. The police arrested him because he was doing illegal things to avoid being detected as being on the sexual offender registry, and he was running sports programs for children at schools and gyms with an age limit of 14 years old. He has been on the registry since he was my age, 25, when he started luring minors into bookstore bathrooms with porn magazines. The police confiscated most of my computers and flash drives because of the possibility that there was evidence on them, and even took my beloved personal computer tower valued at around $2000. I've been limping along on a SFF workstation I picked out of the trash at CNN HQ, a former CNN Newsroom PC which isn't very useful for anything other than Runescape and web browsing. Turns out, after I got violently kicked out of my mom's house at 19, and he immediately let me move in with him, I had been a bit naive to assume it was innocent. He had his hand down my pants within a week of me "moving in". I was pretty much the perfect naive target for him; naive, pansexual, legal, and very young looking. For the entire 6 years I was with him, I had to deal with emotional abuse, manipulation, and gaslighting on almost a daily basis. Every single decision, no matter how small, had to go through him first. It took me about 2 weeks of being alone in October for my brain to begin to unwind, and for me to realize how unimaginably fucked the whole thing was. I then found out that he had molested my little brother when he was around 12 years old, and he's now pressing both criminal and civil charges against my ex. So far, the biggest insult of all has been that I've lost my core principles and changed into a different person. I'm angry all the time and listening to rock music I always hated, thinking violent thoughts, wanting to buy a gun just in case he finds me, and losing my humanitarian side I loved so dearly. I constantly believe the person I'm speaking to has some other agenda and is manipulating me. At the end of every day I can do nothing other than cower in my apartment, curl up in the fetal position on my unfurnished living room carpet, and listen to old 80's cassette tapes while I get drunk on Jack Daniels whiskey.
  6. Impossible, as cookies aren't supported in the rainmeter WebParser plugin. I want to design a workaround. Initially, I tried to use an IE cookie exploit to load pages that required a cookie, but that didn't work for me for some reason. After a bit of googling, I found a python script that does parts of what I need to do. ( http://paste.pound-python.org/?reply_to=10517 ) I'm trying to do the following: 1. Log in or get a login cookie for Furaffinity.net 2. Parse the content of the http://www.furaffinity.net/controls/messages/ page (Literal text of: 12345 Submissions, 3 Journals, etc...) 3. Display the information in a meter (6 meters in one config) It may be possible to parse the page using a script (such as the one above, which logs in, allegedly), load the information into a file/variable, and then use webparser/variable calls to load the information into a measure/meter. Opinions? There must be a way to get this to work. I don't expect anyone here to know about rainmeter, but I don't know a thing about Python or any other language. As long as I can parse a webpage that requires a cookie, I'm happy.
  7. Happy birthday OC! Where's the cake and presents? What do those mean to a website? Let's see... *server fans rev up to produce morse code* You want a stick of butter for your birthday? What for? *server fans rev up again* You want us... to rub it... on your–oOOoookay, we are definitely not doing that.
  8. Still alive! Well, as alive as an anxiety riddled no-life sysadmin could be, they have me working nights now and it's straight up suicide-inducing. I'd summarize what I've been up to and the projects I've been working on, but everything is far too complex for me to bear here. Sorry if anyone here feels ignored, or feels as if I've just done a U-turn after coming back.

  9. Xubuntu 16.04, it's uptime is a 1:1 ratio to my productivity. Minimized my windows so you can see the wallpaper. :>
  10. What do you need to know?
  11. !!! What a surprise! I didn't expect to see my old banners on your profile!

    Also hello fellow dragon :D

Hi lol, I still miss the old banner/ability to choose their colour. I actually didn't have acess to all the old RGB ones, just the blue one, I had to colour shift them, there's some minor issues but I think I got them just about right

Oh right, also don't forget about the OpenCarnage National Anthem

  12. Kids are the worst! Last year I took a trip to Maui, Hawaii. On the way back home, from Maui to SF, I thought it was a good choice to book those economy plus seats; it turned out to be a big mistake. Seated in the seats in front of mine were two kids and their mom, with the dad across the aisle. The whole family, 2 kids and the parents, were all dressed in matching football jersies. I overheard mom on the phone: "The tenants wanted to know what that red stain was on their carpet, tell them it was pink play dough". And then, this very smart woman gave the kids a gigantic ball of pink play dough! Right there! In the plane! So, within 15 minutes, before we even take off, the mother is ripping one of the jersies off one of the kids while screaming at them. The poor kid was started crying. The mom was furious because... The kid smeared the play dough all over themselves. Gee, what a shocker... Dad had totally mentally fucked off as soon as he sat down, completely ignoring the insanity going on only feet away from him. He was in some far away place, staring into the abyss of what life would be like without having crazy monkey kids! Then, throughout the entire flight, it gets worse. She gives the kids all sorts of stuff like juice, and of course it gets dumped all over the place; 80% of the food they're given just winds up on the floor and literally into the air, over the back of the seats, and into my face. I even watched as one of the kids opened the armrest (containing a pull-out a tray) and dump an entire cup of fruit juice inside. Guess what was right below that? My brand new (at the time) tech-backpack, with an iPad and HP laptop inside, among a dozen other juice-sensitive electronics. My boyfriend formulated a theory that the mother stopped paying attention to the kids at key moments, in order to get attention for herself; he presumed that to her, bad attention is better than none at all. We confirmed this theory as we disembarked the plane, which is when mom started excitedly yelling very loud small-talk at a few random flight attendants. I felt so, so bad for the poor flight attendants who had to clean up after those kids. Juice: dumped. Water: dumped. Play dough: everywhere. Assorted foods: piled in mountains on the floor and seats. As I was boarding the connecting flight, a kid was running around me yelling, having a fun time. He then tripped over my bag... and his mom slapped the ever-loving shit out of him! I watched in awe and horror as this poor little happy kid got flung into the air by his ass.
  13. Wow! Thank you!
  14. I took a look at what IPB uses, it is this editor: http://ckeditor.com/ As far as I can tell, it does have these features built-in: So it should just be a matter of enabling them.
  15. I've been meaning to try it for awhile. What's your username/display name?
  16. Companies like Lenovo always try to walk the line when it comes to bloat/ad/spyware, looks like Lenovo just crossed it.
  17. Oh wow, I had no idea about that. I always thought there was some sort of abstraction layer that made them semi-interoperable with additional nodes. I mean, they probably exist in special applications, but I didn't know they weren't in public use.
  18. Obviously people take their experiences with them to Mars, and it will be colored to wherever they were born and raised, or were living previously. I think in the long term (definitely not just 4 people, a ton more) culture and religion will definitely play a part. Nationality is only a generic secondary (almost redundant) idea that will only be loosely applied, probably forgotten other than in it's ties to certain other cultural memes. A great read for this is the book Red Mars, by Kim Stanley Robinson. In the book, nationality plays a large part but only because corporations from various nations got involved (a possibility, but only muuuuuch later), while Religion and often nationalistic cultural memes follow closely. IE: People from Japan will celebrate various holidays while people from other countries will not.
  19. Is that Second Life?
  20. Hey fellow tech!
  21. I think that's an awful lot of speculation just based on media type. You should stick to the basics instead of analyzing industry decisions. - System architecture might change a bit if CD's weren't used, but fundamentally would have stayed the same. Advances in processing power happened independently of the media used. - One of the biggest effects of staying with cartridges is lower NVRAM compared to a CD/DVD. You can cram a lot more data on an optical disk than you can a cartridge (of that time period). A good example of this being used on a legacy system was the Sega CD, which is an optional external disk drive for the cartridge-based Sega Genesis System. - Conversely, sticking with cartridges would give system builders a head start in terms of performance, as the Flash memory industry exploded in the 90's, with faster R/W speeds to boot. Switching to optical media definitely impacted R/W speeds (dem loading times) and in some instances could cause games to stutter (on old systems). - Something to also consider is the reliability of solid-state media. Sure, the cartridge port itself can break, but cartridges were built like tanks. We all know how fragile optical disks are. This might change how end users see the media. That's my thoughts on the matter. Industry choices might branch out from these basic concepts.
  22. I don't quite agree with Weps 100% (I'm all for taking your kids to the gun range, and making sure they know all about gun safety. If they like it, I'd let them pursue it as an interest. I wouldn't jumpstart their interest myself, but I wouldn't try to stop it either.) but yeah, blurring/removing the gun is really stupid and doesn't accomplish anything. I mean, I agree lessening the amount of gore/blood/voilent looking things that a child can easily access, but that's more like bloody guts explosions and rape scenes... removing screenshots that contain guns does nothing, it's an object. There's also a billion other readily-available places to "see a gun" or violence, further reducing the intended goal of this thing. I do know of a few kids, though, that are obsessed with guns in a manner that's a bit weird (not even a hobby, and they've never held one). For instance one of my cousins, aged 8, is well known to the family to be really weirdly obsessed with guns in general. If he sees one on TV or in a game, he goes nuts and usually winds up hurting someone/himself. He very often pretends to shoot everyone around him for hours, until he gets tired. Everyone in the family knows: don't show him guns, talk about them, or even turn your hand into a gun (that index finger + thumb thing) around him. Obviously, the kid has some sort of mental or behavioural issue, and shouldn't really be on an "app store" in the first place without supervision. That said, no one else (barring any behavioural issues) is going to have a problem with seeing that stuff.
  23. Why? I take too many photos of my cat. Someone has to see them!
  24. Garry's Mod DarkRp. Yeah I know, it's pretty terrible.
  25. No one needs to prove anything but yourself. Until something scientific is proven, it is to be assumed false. Here, just to humor you, Google Scholar has papers on the topic: https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=behavioural+genetics+race You will see a blend of opinions, even some that support what you're saying (Although, they are full of pseudoscience and assumptions themselves. One is even described as "racist trash", which sounds great for you to read). The division in conclusion is because this is what the scientific community looks like when the hypothesis has not been proven to the extent of theoretical means. There is no evidence (proof) strong enough to unify any explanation that says behavioural genes are exclusive to any ethnicity. All I asked was that you prove the thing you're asserting. Any less than that, and anyone can assume that you just made it up. If you truly believe what you've posted, you should have actually researched it before posting, as it's a scientific claim. I'll admit, though, that maybe I jumped the gun in expecting you to value the scientific process (such as the fact that no one really needs to prove a negative before the positive assertion is proven). I don't disagree with, or doubt any of that. What I do disagree with is your (self-admittedly made up) presumption that it has anything to do with ethnicity. "Common knowledge" and "common experiences" is not valid scientific data. You've also basically admitted that you are wrong in a scientific sense. Until you can prove a scientific claim, in a fashion acceptable in a scientific process, it's only an imaginary hypothesis (and it's definitely not science).
