War. War never changes.

I've loved Fallout for about seven years now. When Fallout 3 came out and was the best game on the block at the time, I decided to buy it for myself and give it a try, but while I waited for it to arrive, I went ahead and started playing the first two games in the series. They were dated to be sure, and I didn't have any clue of what the controls were, where I should go, or anything. But, my 360 controller broke, and I didn't have the funds to get a new one, so I was stuck with those games whether I liked it or not. After a while, I started really getting into them; they were great RPGs with a pretty great turn-based combat system, and challenging gameplay. The writing and characters were top-notch, and the graphics, though slightly old, are pretty much timeless.

Playing Fallout 3 afterwards left me kind of disappointed, as nearly all the designs were changed, the lore was going into uncharted territory, and it was a pretty glitchy experience, but it was my first time with a Bethesda RPG as well. Of course, I ended up loving it and sinking hundreds of hours into it with multiple characters. As the years have gone by, I appreciate how it revitalized the series and the work put into it. Currently, my character is maxed, he has 100 in all the weapon categories except unarmed and explosives. He's wearing this and this. Wearing barely any armor on the hardest difficulty gives me a bit more of a challenge, but I am also looking amazingly fresh. I'm sure by now those robes are completely broken, so I'm not gonna unequip them.

New Vegas, I'd have to say, is my favorite in the series. I'm glad Bethesda allowed them to continue the legacy of Fallout 1&2 by bringing the setting back to the western wastelands. Sure, the map is smaller and more closed off than 3, and it's a bit more difficult, but the hardcore mode makes me feel like a true survivalist. There's all kinds of crazy characters in the game, and you never know which one will give you a quest that allows you to meet even more people. I've put way more hours in this game than I have in the third one, because it just feels like home to me. Currently, my character has 10 Luck, so I've already gotten kicked out of all of the casinos for emptying them out. I then summarily spent all the caps I got from all that on cybernetic upgrades, because I'm all about that shit. At the moment I'm decked out with this (armor only), with this helmet, and, of course... THAT GUN. That's probably my favorite weapon in any game so far, with all the luck my character has, I score some mean criticals with it. Other than being really lucky, my playthrough is strictly limited to handguns only, because they have some kick ass revolvers and energy pistols in the game.

It goes without saying I'm getting pretty fucking ready for Fallout 4. I'm not playing these modded because I'm (braces self) playing on my PS3, but chances are I'll acquire these games for the PC at some point and mod the shit out of them.

Please, post everything that tickles your fancy relating to Fallout. I wanna see all your characters, all your mods, all your thoughts on the series, even lore discussion. It's a wild, wild wasteland.

Tiddy-bits:

I like rolling as a tacticool operator or a gunslinger in New Vegas. I try more variety but end up gravitating back. I like having a lot of different guns that are good for different situations and revolvers. Shotguns are also great.

I usually did sneak/guns in FO3. I haven't gotten very far in FO1 yet.

Insanely high STR so I can use ALL OF THE HEAVY WEAPONS, in both FO3 and FONV.  I usually just wear some form of T-51b and tote some kind of heavy weapon like a gatling laser or minigun in FONV, or just that insane gauss rifle in FO3.  When I run out of ammo for my heavy weapons I just use my handy-dandy (OBVIOUSLY NOT A)M1 Garand battle rifle from Gun Runners.

In F3 I do the DLC as soon as I can to get the T-51B armor; and my main weapon is the combat shotgun for the entirety of the game, starting as soon as I can get it.

Until I get power armor, I wear the Raider Blastmaster helmet (fireman helmet):

And the Merc Troublemaker outfit (leather armor with bandolier and straps):

I've only played NV once so far so I can't really say what armor/weapon I mainly use.

Had a pretty strange encounter today. I finished the main quest in F3 and was continuing with the Broken Steel questline, which leads you pretty much to one of the corners of the map. I took a look at this thread while walking around, and when I looked back up not even two seconds later, there was a Deathclaw right in front of me. I expected a quick death, but nonetheless I start popping off shots with the scoped .44, start shooting in VATS... and the game freezes. Just for the fuck of it, I take a picture of the screen with my phone (I'd post it but it's pretty much a blurry screenshot,) then just as I'm about to take another one, it unfreezes, leaving me dumbfounded and grasping for my controller. I managed to survive the ordeal and kill the beast with a ripper. Bravo Bethesda.

Just before that, I had to fight two other Deathclaws, three sentry bots, and an albino radscorpion. Level scaling don't fucking play.

Last night i finished the survival guide quests, Then made 2 saves. One where i blew up megaton and am in my Tenpeny towers apartment. The other i disabled the bomb and am chilling in my shithole house in megaton. I'm not sure which to continue playing...

As for my character I've got my weight carry up to 300 so i can loot as much as i want and go much longer between visiting traders to sell stuff. 6000 caps in my pocket and rocking talon combat armor with the blast master helmet until i can get power armor training.

Helped 3 dog and he gave me a key to a weapons cache, Main quest line i need to visit vault 112, Ive stolen the declaration of independence and some other important bit of paper.

I guess after writing this i will continue with my save where megaton isnt blown to bits just because id rather not kill all those people, Even though i really would love that apartment....

I know right, you can't be fucking with alternate realities within an alternate reality itself

I'm going back to New Vegas, adventuring in the Honest Hearts DLC, which is the Utah wasteland I guess. Whatever. Home sweet home.
